What You’ll Deliver: In this crucial role, you will be responsible for providing advanced technical leadership in municipal wastewater process engineering, guiding a portfolio of wastewater infrastructure projects. Your contributions will focus on delivering sustainable, efficient, and innovative solutions for the complex challenges faced by wastewater systems across Brisbane, Greater Brisbane, and the Sunshine Coast Region. Technical Leadership: Oversee the technical direction of municipal wastewater projects, ensuring the application of best practices in process engineering, design methodologies, and implementation strategies. Expert Process Design: Lead the detailed design and optimisation of wastewater treatment processes, including primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment options, with a focus on current industry innovations and advanced technologies such as Membrane Bioreactors (MBR) and nutrient recovery processes. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to local, state, and national regulatory frameworks (WSA, AS) through investigation and application of relevant standards in all phases of wastewater treatment and reuse system design. Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilise modelling tools and data analytics to evaluate system performance and make informed recommendations for process enhancements, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in wastewater management. Sustainable Solutions Development: Collaborate on initiatives to implement sustainable engineering practices, including biosolids management, resource recovery, and the integration of recycled water into existing systems. Interagency Collaboration: Engage with stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and public entities to ensure alignment on project objectives and technical requirements, championing effective communication and knowledge transfer across all levels. What You’ll Bring to the Table: This highly technical role requires extensive experience and a passion for process optimisation as well as a collaborative, client-focused approach. You will contribute: Extensive Experience: At least 10 years of experience specifically in municipal wastewater process engineering, with a proven track record in the design and delivery of both small and large-scale projects that encompass: Advanced knowledge of treatment technologies, including Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR), MBR systems, and approaches to odour management and control. Involvement and interest in the range of emerging technologies in wastewater treatment and design Experience with biosolids treatment and management strategies, resource recovery methods, and implementing water reuse systems. Technical Acumen: Expertise across the entire project lifecycle, from conceptualisation and feasibility studies to detailed design, construction oversight, and commissioning of wastewater treatment facilities. Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of compliance requirements and industry standards governing wastewater treatment processes and re-use regulations. Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities with experience in using modelling software and analytical tools to drive effective solutions and optimise operational performance. Qualifications: Chartered Professional Chemical Engineer status is desirable or a commitment to attaining this recognition.
