About the role WA System Engineering is responsible for power system analysis, modelling, and reporting, to ensure short- to medium-term security, reliability and resilience of the SWIS considering the rapid energy transition. In this role you will provide engineering foresight and services in all aspects of system transition challenges and opportunities for a sustainable energy future. Involved in creating a new framework, you will liaise with diverse market participants, and witness commissioning of new facilities across Solar, Wind and Batteries. This experience will provide you with skills applicable across the globe. What you will be doing Contribute to establishing engineering methodologies for the GPS Framework that will be used internally at AEMO and in the SWIS (e.g., GPS assessment methodology, Relevant Generator Modifications, GPS commissioning). Assess GPS non-compliance submissions and rectification plans. Lead/contribute to the development of WEM Rules changes for the GPS Framework and coordinate these with policy stakeholders, such AEMO WEM Reforms, EPWA, etc. Contribute to the implementation of WEM Rules changes to internal AEMO and broader industry processes arising from these changes. Represent AEMO in discussions with Network Operator and Market Participants about GPS submissions for existing Transmission Connected Generating Systems, provide guidance to Market Participants about the process and technical aspects of GPS. Lead AEMO in developing and maintaining Generator Monitoring Plan (GMP) WEM Procedure and related technical forms. Develop and maintain effective relationship between the AEMO GPS team and their counterparts, Network Operator and Market Participants. What you will bring to the role Experience in power system networks and operations. Understanding of electrical engineering principles, specifically related to electricity generation and transmission system theory, analysis, and modelling. Experience in managing generator connection processes, with strong experience in assessing generator and power system performance issues. Experience in negotiating the resolution of complex technical issues across stakeholders with competing objectives and a variety of commercial and reputational drivers. Knowledge of electrical power system modelling and analysis tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD and Python.
