$95,187 - $108,734 10% BDCP up to 15.4% Superannuation Sydney CBD - NSW The Role As an APS 6 System Safety Assurance Officer, you will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex Systems Engineering work within an integrated workforce. The successful candidate will monitor and ensure safety aspects of Defence materiel systems are considered and incorporated into Systems Engineering activities as part of the MCPSPO system safety program. You will plan and deliver assurance activities to provide advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders on system and product safety requirements, safety risk management, reporting, escalation and resolution. You will identify and manage system safety risks, issues and opportunities. As a key member of the MCPSPO Engineering team, you will ensure conformance of practice with WHS legislative, regulatory and NSSG policy requirements and champion the standardisation of practice of systems safety engineering activities in the maritime domain. About our Team The Maritime Cross Platform Systems Program Office (MCPSPO) within Maritime Systems Division is the lead agency for the delivery of cross-Class sustainment services and advice across the maritime environment. MCPSPO sustains and manages a range of complex military systems and supplies, through an extensive network of industry partners, domestic and offshore. Our operating environment is complex and challenging, and requires exceptional contract and relationship management skills. MCPSPO is comprised of three functions: Commercial, Sustainment and Engineering. These teams work in a complex, fast-paced environment as part of a diverse and inclusive Branch environment that encompasses a variety of knowledge, skills and experience within a supportive hierarchy. Our Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will demonstrate: Strong knowledge of engineering processes and technical analysis, including but not limited to system reviews, hazard risk analysis and safety case reports. Ability to exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation of applicable legislation, regulation and policy, and in the application of practices and procedures. Responsibility for managing work activities to achieve results with the ability to work independently and to identify and manage resources in support of accurate completion of work.
