About the role We’re seeking a skilled Project Engineer to support the planning and development of major periodic maintenance (MPM) projects. This role is ideal for someone with strong signalling experience, particularly in optical signalling systems. You’ll work closely with project managers and stakeholders to ensure designs are practical, compliant, and ready for delivery. Key accountabilities include : · Manage the development of signalling design projects within the Annual Works Plan. · Coordinate site investigations, surveys, and asset inspections. · Ensure compliance with V/Line’s Design Management Procedure. · Lead Safety in Design (SiD) workshops and manage risk treatments. · Oversee stakeholder engagement during the design phase. · Manage Request for Information (RFI) provided by contractors in a timely manner. · Collaborate with delivery teams and contribute to project reporting. · Manage change requests and project costs. · Facilitate the design handover phase to Delivery. · Participate in lessons learned reviews and apply insights to future work. About you You’re a proactive and detail-oriented engineer with a passion for rail signalling. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are ready to take ownership of project development activities. You bring a solutions-focused mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities with confidence. Our ideal candidate will possess the following: · Substantial experience in railway signalling (optical signalling highly regarded). · Strong background in signalling design, maintenance, or renewals. · Demonstrated project engineering and stakeholder engagement skills. · Experience working in complex, cross-functional environments. · Familiarity with Safety in Design and project lifecycle processes. · Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. · Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel to project sites as needed. · Demonstrated alignment with V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights. Qualifications · Tertiary qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering Highly regarded · Level 1 Train Track Safety Awareness (TTSA) / Personal Track Safety; willingness to obtain one. · Construction Induction Training (White Card) A full position description will be provided to interviewees.
