About the role WA System Engineering is responsible for power system analysis, modelling, and reporting, to ensure short- to medium-term security, reliability, and resilience of the SWIS considering the rapid energy transition. In this new role you will be responsible for power system analysis, modelling, and reporting, to ensure short- to medium-term security, reliability, and resilience of the SWIS. Your role will involve the provision of engineering foresight and services in all aspects of system transition challenges and opportunities for a sustainable energy future. What you will be doing Develop and maintain software tools for automating technical studies and model information management process, especially SWIS DIgSILENT PowerFactory model. Provide power system modelling and engineering expertise in simulation and analysis, including scenario development. Review power system performance including Essential System Services provision. Conduct power system incident reviews, including identification of key risks and trends and publication of high-quality reviewable incident reports. Develop mechanisms to support and respond to the emerging operational challenges (System Strength, Frequency Stability, etc.). Build and maintain effective relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders. What you will bring to the role Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or other discipline relevant to power systems analysis. Solid experience in power system planning and operation. Understanding of electrical engineering principles, specifically related to electricity generation and transmission system theory, analysis, and modelling. Ability to communicate technical/engineering concepts to the non-technical audience in a clear and easy to understand language. Experience in negotiating the resolution of complex technical issues across stakeholders with competing objectives and a variety of commercial and reputational drivers. Demonstrated report/technical note writing capability, verbal communication skills and effective prioritisation and time management. Knowledge of electrical power system modelling and analysis tools, such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, MATLAB, PSCAD, and Python.
