Mid Level and Senior Drill & Blast Roles Available Exciting opportunity to work for a leading name in the mining industry Options for FIFO or DIDO from QLD Locations We are currently seeking 2 x Drill and Blast Engineers including a Senior for two leading brands in the open cut coal mining industry. These are excellent opportunities for driven mining professionals to play a vital role in delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective drill and blast designs and mine planning while advancing their careers in a high-performing technical environment. The Senior Drill & Blast Engineer is a DIDO role from Mackay or surrounding while the mid-level Drill & Blast Engineer position is FIFO from either Brisbane or the Sunshine Coast. Both opportunities provide a supportive team with a long project life and you will be given all the tools you need to succeed. Key Responsibilities: Support the development of effective short- and medium-term mine plans by contributing to pit design and scheduling. Design and continuously refine drill and blast patterns to achieve optimal fragmentation, excavation efficiency, and cost performance. Monitor and analyse blast performance data to drive operational improvements and reduce environmental impacts such as vibration, noise, and fume. Work closely with mine planning and production teams to align blasting activities with broader operational targets and schedules. Build and maintain strong working relationships with drilling contractors and explosive suppliers to ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery. Ensure full compliance with Queensland mining legislation, site safety protocols, and environmental regulations. Maintain detailed and accurate documentation, including blast reports, risk assessments, and operational records. Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline. Experience as a Drill & Blast Engineer in open cut mining is essential. Coal experience is highly favoured Queensland Shotfirer’s Licence (or the ability to obtain one). Familiarity with mine planning and blast design software (e.g. BlastLogic, SHOTPlus, Vulcan, Deswik). Proven track record of safe work practices and leadership in technical roles. Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Current Australian driver’s licence.
