About the role We are seeking a passionate and experienced Civil and Pipeline/Water Engineer to join our Engineering Solutions team, supporting the delivery of civil investigations and condition assessments for water and wastewater infrastructure across the state. As an experienced engineer, you will influence and contribute expertise across the corporation, working with other teams on site to investigate and resolve problems and processes. Your work will play a key role in informing asset renewal, upgrade and maintenance planning through evidence-based insights. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical capability, practical experience in the water sector, and a commitment to delivering community-focused infrastructure outcomes that are aligned with SA Water’s values and purpose. Key Responsibilities Provide technical support across all general civil and pipeline engineering matters across the corporation. Provide timely engineering support for unplanned or emergency response activities. Support Sustainability in Design (SuiD) and Safety in Design (SiD) initiatives and ensure integration into engineering activities. Collaborate with the Principal Engineer, Civil, to develop and enhance technical capability within the team. Support the review and continuous improvement of technical standards and guidelines for civil and pipeline infrastructure. Evaluate and recommend new and emerging technologies where business benefits are identified. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders ensuring effective communication with engineering teams, project managers, vendors and contractors. About the Person To be successful in this role, you will need the following to be successful: Tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering. Proven experience in civil engineering within the water or wastewater sector, particularly in pipeline and infrastructure condition assessment and rehabilitation. Demonstrated capability in executing novel, complex, and critical engineering investigations and designs in the civil (and pipelines) engineering discipline. A high-level understanding of corrosion and material durability considerations, complemented by practical knowledge of pipeline structural integrity and support systems (e.g. anchor blocks, pipe chairs, thrust blocks), and exposure to site drainage, earthworks, stormwater management, and road/pavement condition assessment practices. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to resolving complex site issues. Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia (EA) or in the process of obtaining chartership with EA is desirable. A valid drivers' licence required. Our Industry is like no other.
