Join a dynamic, outcome focused and value-driven team Contribute to a team that is shaping our future transmission system and dedicated to advancing Australia's sustainable energy future Fulltime role based in Sydney The Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to provide expertise on high voltage equipment to meet the various internal needs of Transgrid including capital projects, operations and maintenance and technical investigations. The Senior Equipment Engineer will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including multi-billion-dollar major projects to help enable Australia’s energy transition. This is an exiting time for Equipment Engineers to work in Transgrid with an increasing quantity and variety of equipment being introduced onto the network including MV and HV AIS and GIS switchgear up to 500kV, Power Transformers, SynCons, PSTs, STATCOMs and SVCs. You will be required to: Assess equipment requirements and develop technical specifications. Complete technical evaluation of tenders and analysis of suppliers to understand supplier capability, quality, safety, performance, technological development & innovation. Assess and influence manufacturer designs to ensure alignment with Transgrid requirements and industry standards. Witness and assess factory and site equipment testing. Develop investigate and introduce new technology and types of equipment, with a focus on providing cost effective solutions that are reliable, meets stakeholder needs and are in line with Transgrid’s strategic objectives. Assist with investigations of issues with new primary equipment and existing network equipment. Contribute to the development of technical standards and standard equipment specifications. About You: Degree or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering with extensive relevant experience. Strong experience in high voltage equipment, including specification, design assessment, testing, and verification. In-depth knowledge of power systems equipment, maintenance practices, and plant-network interactions, with the ability to provide expert technical advice. Detailed understanding of HV and MV equipment, power systems, and Australian and International Standards. Expertise in insulation systems, degradation, and integrity testing. Proven ability to provide technical assurance, support project negotiations, and engage effectively with stakeholders. Familiarity with Quality Assurance systems and principles.
