About the role As the Regional Driver Manager – Technical Operations, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of V/Line’s regional train services. This leadership position is responsible for: Providing technical and operational support to the Director of Train Services. Managing the performance, development, and wellbeing of Driver Supervisors, Drivers, and Trainee Drivers across the Eastern Region. Leading the interface between Train Services, Fleet, and Alstom to manage rolling stock updates, technical procedures, and risk governance. Overseeing driver training, assurance checks, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Driving continuous improvement initiatives, managing technical investigations, and contributing to strategic planning. Championing a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance across your team and the broader organisation. This is a high-impact role that combines technical expertise, people leadership, and operational excellence to support the delivery of reliable and customer-focused regional rail services. This role includes responsibility for the Traralgon depot driver team. The successful candidate is expected to work from Traralgon at least two days per week to provide on-site leadership and support. About you You are a confident and capable leader with a strong background in rail operations and a passion for safety and continuous improvement. To succeed in this role, you will bring: Technical Expertise: A Certificate IV in Train Driving or Rail Operations (preferred), and deep knowledge of rolling stock operations and rail safety regulations. Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead teams in a unionised, safety-critical environment, with a focus on coaching, performance management, and workforce development. Operational Acumen: Experience managing technical investigations, audits, and risk assessments, with the ability to make informed decisions in a dynamic environment. Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across internal and external stakeholders. Regional Presence: This role includes responsibility for the Traralgon depot driver team.
