Position Summary A Senior Data Engineer role focused on designing and delivering scalable, end-to-end data integration and transformation solutions across cloud and on-premises environments, including Microsoft Azure and SQL-based platforms. The role involves leading the development and deployment of data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Visual Studio, as well as implementing robust data models and storage solutions using Data Vault 2.0, Erwin Data Intelligence, and various database technologies such as Oracle and SQL Server. Responsibilities include advising on data architecture and migration strategies, optimizing data warehouses and data lakes, and utilizing advanced programming techniques to build maintainable applications. The role also includes people leadership responsibilities, such as mentoring junior engineers, guiding technical decision-making, and fostering collaboration within Agile cross-functional teams through sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. A strong focus is placed on ensuring software reliability through comprehensive testing frameworks across Azure Data Factory Pipelines and Azure SQL. Mandatory Skills Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field. Experience in designing and developing scalable software solutions using modern programming languages. Proficiency in SQL and Data Querying: Minimum 5 years of experience working with SQL in professional environments. This includes writing optimized queries, designing relational database schemas, and working with complex joins, subqueries, and aggregations. Experience with Data Warehousing and Cloud Platforms: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience managing and designing data warehouses, working with cloud storage (especially Azure), and integrating cloud-based tools for large-scale data processing. Advanced Level Proficiency with Data Pipeline Technologies: Minimum 5 years of experience working with data pipeline tools or cloud-native services, the ability to orchestrate, automate and monitor data pipelines is critical, as well as troubleshooting and optimizing pipelines for scalability and fault tolerance. Proficient in data modelling concepts (Kimball, Inmon, Data Vault 2.0) with experience with Azure SQL. Skilled in unit integration, and performance testing to ensure software reliability. Familiar with medallion architecture principles and best practices. Experience with designing and developing frameworks for data validation, testing and deployment, including Unit Testing, Integration Testing, Data Quality Testing & Performance Testing Proficient in Agile DevOps delivery methodologies with experience in CI/CD. Roles And Responsibilities The Senior Data Engineer is responsible for: Analyse and understand business and software requirements, propose technically feasible solutions, estimate required efforts, identify risks and formulate implementation approach and assumptions. Design, develop, test, integrate and implement software solutions for data integration, processing, and transformation across various platforms. Utilize advanced programming techniques and frameworks to build scalable and maintainable applications. Designing and optimizing data storage solutions, including data warehouses and data lakes. Database design and data migration across Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio work platforms. Using Data Vault 2.0 data & process modelling techniques to clarify data flow and requirements for system application development. Data model analysis and implementation in Erwin Data Intelligence work platform. Implement ADF pipeline across different repos in Microsoft Azure Data Factory. Deployment data & pipelines in Visual Studio and monitor pipelines in Azure DevOps. Mentor junior engineers and lead technical decision-making processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile/Scrum methodologies, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives. Implement and maintain robust testing frameworks using Azure Data Factory Pipelines and Azure SQL, including unit, integration, and performance testing, to ensure software reliability. Qualifications/Certifications (Optional): Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. 5 years of professional experience in designing and developing scalable software and data solutions using modern programming languages and frameworks. Strong background in Data Warehousing and Cloud Platforms, particularly with Microsoft Azure, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, and cloud storage integration. Skilled in Data Modelling Methodologies: Kimball, Inmon, and Data Vault 2.0, with practical implementation on Azure SQL.
