About the OPPORTUNITY – We have a great opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer - Auxiliary to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based either at Osborne, SA, Melbourne, Vic or Cairns, Qld, reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer – Auxiliary. If you are based outside of Adelaide, please note occasional travel to Osborne may be required. You will be responsible for working within the team on mechanical auxiliary combat systems, specifically on water cooling systems. As a senior member of the team, you will play a mentoring role of other engineers, providing guidance and support with tasks. This role will see you: Developing mechanical auxiliary system equipment to meet an established set of requirements, including participating in design reviews Developing optimised Mechanical Auxiliary system and/or equipment detail designs and present the designs in design reviews Supporting the translation of the Mechanical Auxiliary system and/or equipment design into a manufacturable solution and incorporate changes as required Undertaking the integration and validation of the Mechanical Auxiliary system and/or equipment design including contributing to the integration and validation plans and reports Supporting Mechanical Auxiliary systems and/or equipment qualification activities to ensure that the product meets all requirements including safety and regulatory requirements. About YOU Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or Aerospace Engineering. Experience in maritime may be considered suitable in lieu of a degree Experience in a maritime/marine defence environment would be highly advantageous A strong background in the design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of water-cooling systems, particularly in high-stress environments like combat systems or heavy-duty machinery Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and documentation writing A current NV1 Clearance or eligibility to obtain Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations We believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
