About us: Established in 2001, Guidera O’Connor (GO)is a privately owned and respected design and construct contractor and have a successful track record delivering water and wastewater treatment projects to the Australian Water Industry. Our clients include SA Water, Water Corporation, Sydney Water and SEQ Water. About the Role: As the National Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the development and strategic direction of Guidera O’Connors National Engineering function. You will drive the reshaping of engineering to meet the changing needs of the industry and develop a culture of excellence. You will manage the design teams for Design and Construct (D&C) and Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) projects to ensure all designs meet contractual requirements and are completed on time and to budget. You will use your vast leadership skills to motivate teams, ensuring projects are completed successfully on time and within budget control. While this role is based in Thebarton, SA, you will lead a team of around 60 employees based in both in SA and Bibra Lake, WA. So frequent travel to Perth will be required. More specifically you will: Provide vision and strategic leadership of the National Engineering Team to foster a culture of excellence and a ‘right first time’ approach to design. Work with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all aspects of project design are considered and optimized to reduce rework. Lead the development of an Engineered Solutions function within the wider Engineering Team to provide engineering services to key clients with the aim of diversifying our engineering offering. Provide effective leadership to the engineering and drafting design teams to ensure they are motivated and suitably resourced to effectively perform their roles Effectively manage teams so that designs are completed on time Effectively manage teams so that designs are completed within budget Develop and maintain a close working relationship with key internal and external stakeholders Work with the Chief Technical Engineer to ensure that designs meet project quality, safety and environmental requirements As our ideal candidate you will have: A bachelor’s degree in engineering, project management or business management and extensive experience in a similar leadership role in design and construction, preferably in the water industry. Experience in developing and implementing strategies that meet the changing needs of the industry, targeting sustained organic growth. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and confident in dealing with stakeholders at all levels within the business and external customers. An ability to manage regional engineering teams and fostering collaboration with executives, all functional and external stakeholders. Experience in developing and implementing national engineering strategies while driving process improvements and adopting new technologies. Experience supervising large-scale, multi-location projects and addressing any complex engineering and operational challenges. Experience allocating and controlling resources effectively. An ability to identify and mitigate project and operational risks. Current knowledge and understanding of all HSEQ obligations, ensuring compliance with national codes and standards.
