Property and Facilities 1 x Full-time permanent position Base salary for this position will be $127,112.24 17% Superannuation (Hew Level 8.4) There will also be a 2% increase to the base salary in August 2025 and February 2026 as per the Enterprise Agreement Lead contractor safety oversight on UQ’s live construction sites and make a meaningful impact on infrastructure safety and culture Based at our picturesque St Lucia Campus About This Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Manager, Health, Safety and Wellness (Construction Delivery) to lead WHS oversight across a broad portfolio of infrastructure projects at UQ. This role focuses on on-the-ground safety leadership, particularly through site-based engagement with Principal Contractors. With WHS procedures and systems being developed in partnership with an external consultant, this role is primarily focused on site-based leadership, providing operational oversight, managing contractor performance, and driving safety outcomes across UQ’s active construction sites. Key Responsibilities: Provide visible WHS leadership across construction sites, regularly engaging with Principal Contractors to promote and maintain high safety standards. Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure ongoing compliance with WHS legislation, UQ policies, and contractor obligations. Oversee contractor WHS performance and drive continuous improvement across diverse infrastructure projects. Onboarding contractors and facilitating training aligned with PMO safety processes. Investigate incidents and implement preventative strategies in collaboration with key stakeholders. Promote a positive, proactive safety culture through coaching, engagement, and strong working relationships across project teams. You have a strong understanding of relevant safety legislation, including WHS, fire, and electrical safety, and a proven track record of applying these principles on high-risk or complex projects. Your strengths lie in interpreting and applying policies, engaging confidently with contractors and stakeholders, and managing competing priorities with minimal supervision. You’re highly organised , data-driven, and an effective communicator capable of producing clear, actionable reports and contributing to a culture of safety and well-being. Experience working directly on construction sites and assessing contractor safety practices (such as method statements) is highly regarded. Qu estions?
