In this role, you’ll be responsible for the design, performance, security, and integration of our on-premises and cloud-based database systems, including Microsoft SQL, Informix, Postgres, and Azure cloud databases. You'll play a critical part in ensuring the reliability and integrity of our data infrastructure, while driving innovation, optimisation, and governance across all platforms. What will you do? • Design, implement, and manage on-prem and cloud database systems • Optimise Microsoft SQL, Informix, and Postgres performance and integrity • Administer cloud technologies including Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, and Data Lake • Monitor and tune database performance, apply patches and upgrades • Document database designs and maintain information flow diagrams • Implement secure backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures • Ensure data governance and compliance with policies and regulatory standards • Collaborate with vendors to support optimal database design • Lead database upgrade planning, testing and deployment • Create and maintain data migration scripts and synchronisation routines • Analyse and publish database audit, risk, and compliance reports What do you need? • Strong experience managing Microsoft SQL and open-source databases (Postgres, Informix) • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud database services (e.g., Cosmos DB, Azure SQL) • Proficiency in performance tuning, query optimisation, indexing, and monitoring tools • Knowledge of database security frameworks and backup/recovery practices • Experience writing and maintaining migration and synchronisation scripts • Ability to document complex data flows and system designs • Familiarity with database governance, audit, and regulatory compliance • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills • Agile mindset and experience working in cross-functional teams How do I apply?
