The role We are seeking an experienced and talented Lead Electrical Designer with expertise in MicroStation or AutoCAD to support and lead design activities for our mining and mineral processing projects both in Western Australia and internationally. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical design, a proven track record in project delivery, and the ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams. The role is Perth based. This position is offered as a 6-month term initially and we remain open to direct employment terms or consultancy terms with the ideal candidate. Main Responsibilities include: · Lead and coordinate a team of electrical designers to ensure project deliverables are created efficiently and to a high standard. · Lead electrical design efforts on mining and mineral processing projects, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery. · Utilize MicroStation or AutoCAD for detailed electrical design, drafting, and documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client specifications. · Develop and review electrical layouts, schematics, termination diagrams, single line diagrams, general arrangements, and wiring diagrams for power distribution, control systems, lighting, and instrumentation. · Coordinate with project engineers, contractors, and other design disciplines to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems. · Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior design staff, ensuring high standards of design quality and safety. · Manage and resolve technical design issues, ensuring the successful execution of projects. · Prepare design documentation for submission to clients, regulatory bodies, and contractors. · Contribute to the development of proposals, including scope, budget, and timelines. · Occasional travel to national and international project sites to support on-the-ground design and project execution. The successful candidate will: Essential · Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical design, preferably in mining, mineral processing, or similar heavy industries. · Advanced proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD and other relevant design software · Extensive experience in creating and reviewing electrical design documentation, including schematics, termination diagrams, single line diagrams, general arrangements, and wiring diagrams. · Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, control systems, and instrumentation. · Experience in preparing electrical designs for large-scale mining and mineral processing projects. · Sound understanding of electrical engineering codes, standards, and regulations. · Proven ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders. · Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to project challenges. · Ability to travel to national and international project sites as required. · Relevant qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (Degree or Diploma). Desirable · Previous experience with international projects. · Experience working in remote or regional locations. · Familiarity with electrical design for hazardous environments. · Experience in both MicroStation and AutoCAD software packages. · Familiarity with BHP, Rio Tinto, Roy Hill and FMG systems and procedures.
