The Opportunity A Tier 1 mining company is seeking a Water Design Engineer to deliver detailed designs for dewatering and water infrastructure projects across multiple mine sites. This Perth-based role offers a Monday to Friday schedule on an initial 6-month contract . Key Responsibilities Hydraulic modelling of pipelines, borefields, pump stations, ponds, and tanks. Preparing comprehensive design work packages including scopes of work, construction drawings, and material take-offs (MTOs). Leading project design reviews including field inspections and stakeholder engagement. Developing final engineering deliverables such as pipeline schematics, general arrangements (GAs), P&IDs, and equipment selection. Contributing to capital estimates and readiness for operational handover. Supporting construction through technical queries and document updates. Creating equipment data sheets and evaluating vendor proposals for technical and budget compliance. Ensuring all designs comply with statutory regulations, company standards, and best practices. Providing clear communication around design status, risks, and issues. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design alignment and integration. About You Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering (preferred), or Chemical/Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia. Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical piping/pipeline system design, ideally within mining or engineering consultancy. Previous experience with dewatering systems is highly advantageous. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Solid understanding of discipline-specific technologies and inter-disciplinary interfaces. Knowledge of relevant Australian standards and regulatory requirements. Competency with design tools such as Visio; experience with ArcMap is a plus. Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive, self-starting approach. Willingness to undertake short site visits for scoping and stakeholder engagement. Must have full Australian working rights.
