About the Job About the role Located on-site, the Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor plays a pivotal role in supporting the Fleet Manager and the Diesel Depot Production Maintenance Team (Rollingstock) by ensuring the availability of inventory and materials through the Public Transport Authority’s (PTA) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. The role involves overseeing all aspects of inventory management, as well as warehousing and logistics operations. Key responsibilities include coordinating demand planning, establishing supply scopes of work, and delivering a customer-focused logistics support service to the branch. The Supervisor facilitates collaboration with maintenance personnel, promotes a service-oriented approach, and mentors staff to meet contractual and organisational objectives. The Supervisor also leads the inventory management process, including inventory cataloguing, parts interpretation, and coordinating stocktakes and cycle counts to ensure data accuracy and availability. This role extends to managing satellite locations and handling warranty claims. In warehousing and logistics, the Supervisor ensures the facility is optimised for safety and efficiency, proposes storage improvements, and maintains relationships with transport vendors to meet maintenance needs. Responsibilities also include compliance with Chain-of-Responsibility legislation, training in equipment use, and managing urgent material requests. Regular reporting on inventory usage, expenditure, and performance metrics ensures continuous improvement and alignment with the strategic needs of the mechanical engineering branch. About You! To excel in this role, you should possess: Demonstrated experience in inventory management, warehousing, and logistics within a supply chain environment, including proficient use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and relevant software packages. Well-developed understanding of warehouse operations, with a strong focus on safety management and compliance in an operational environment. Demonstrates strong management capabilities, including guiding and supporting staff, delegating tasks, and fostering effective teamwork. Skilled in applying policies and procedures in inventory, warehousing, and logistics settings, with the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines and operational targets. Possesses sound interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to consult, negotiate, and build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders. Applies well-developed analytical skills to assess inventory trends, solve problems, and develop scopes of supply that support maintenance operations.
