About the Role Due to internal promotions, we are excited to welcome a skilled and motivated planning professional to step into the role of Coordinator Development and Design . In 2024, the City of Vincent was awarded the Local Government Team of the Year by the Planning Institute of Australia. This Coordinator of Development and Design will be leading a team that exemplifies an innovative and collaborative approach to progressive urban development projects Thie leadership position plays a key role in shaping the City’s built environment by overseeing the assessment of diverse planning applications and guiding the delivery of well-considered, context-sensitive development outcomes. The role also oversees the City’s design review process, helping to elevate design quality and ensure proposals positively contribute to the local character and community. This position leads a team of planners who are passionate about good design, community outcomes, and quality service. With a strong focus on collaboration, statutory compliance and continuous improvement, the role ensures our planning framework is applied consistently and professionally. The role supports the team through clear direction, mentoring, and technical guidance, while also contributing to process enhancements that help us deliver timely, transparent and customer-focused planning decisions. What are we looking for? To be successful in this role you will need: Tertiary level qualifications in Urban Planning or a related discipline. Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role, with a focus on fostering a collaborative team culture, mentoring staff, and driving continuous improvement Experience in or a comprehensive working knowledge of Local Government Extensive experience in assessing and processing complex planning and subdivision applications, as well as dealing with compliance issues with legislative planning frameworks and providing suitable recommendations Sound experience in preparing high-quality planning reports that effectively communicate complex issues to diverse audiences Sound experience in communicating and liaising with a range of stakeholders, including applicants and the community in different forums on development matters Current WA Driver’s Licence What can the City of Vincent offer you?
