Mechanical Engineer – Carrum Downs VIC Kogan People Solutions, recruiters, are working with our client, a well-established manufacturing and wholesaling business specialising in plastic injection moulded products, such as truck mudguards, which can be customised to customer specifications. In addition to state-of-the-art injection moulding, they also undertake die cutting, CNC routing, and with they also offer print capability, so they can customise items by colour, for example, according to the needs of the customer.They enjoy relationships with over 2000 substantial clients which include Australia’s largest transport companies. Endlessly updating and enlarging their mechanical plant and equipment, our client requires a qualified Mechanical Engineer to work with the management team as they execute their plans. Along with other members of the team, you will be responsible for applying your expertise to solving complex mechanical engineering issues. You will work closely with the Management team, allocating resources and ensuring successful delivery of projects. The role is full-time and ongoing with a great salary in the range of $75k to $85k plus superannuation per annum. The duties and responsibilities of the position will include: Ensuring design of componentry and plant utilized within this manufacturing business is effective and meets appropriate industry standards. Ensure manufacturing process and plant designs for specific runs of production meet quality standards and required specifications of goods being manufactured. With assistance of end users, design machinery and plant parts and componentry to ensure the manufacturing process delivers product which meets client specifications. Design as well as produce specifications for plant and machinery set up, determining aspects including but not limited to materials to be used, volume and capacity of production capability, layout of plant and routes to maximise efficiency to ensure required product specification, quality and volumes are met. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards to be used for commissioning any new plant or equipment, or when changes or upgrades are made to production process/parts of equipment and machinery. This includes setting up quality testing procedures to make sure all safety and other regulations are met while meeting best practice engineering principles. Develop policies, procedures, and standards to ensure quality controls are in place to deliver effective products and effective, efficient, and safe manufacturing process. Specify manufacturing requirements (how the machine/individual componentry will function) including test runs to guarantee effectiveness and ensuring efficiency aspects are also considered as an essential element in setting manufacturing specifications. Perform regular inspections of plant to oversee that all operations are appropriately conducted, and that performance is optimised as close to 100% as possible. Based on finding and results of such inspections: Recommend design modifications and oversee the development and maintenance of production routing to maximise effectiveness and efficiency of production plant and machinery for everyday production process. Ensure design and specifications for plant are engineered to best practice levels such that plant malfunctions are eliminated. As required for generalized necessary plant upgrades and for specific projects, such as when a new type of product is developed, hold responsibility for organising and managing delivery of new or upgraded plant or machinery and or materials including project labour. Direct and inspect the installation of machines during commissioning ensuring they are installed aligned with appropriate engineering principles as well as safety standards and other regulation requirements. You should be able to demonstrate the following attributes and strengths to be considered: Highly relevant bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field. At least 1 to 3 years, preferably more, years of verifiable relevant professional experience. Proficiency in technical skills, engineering software, tools, and technologies related to mechanical engineering. Experience and proficiency in 3D CAD software, machining techniques, and assembly design principles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach. Excellent communication skills, patience and empathy. Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and compliance regulations. Be energetic and hard working. Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You must have unrestricted Australian working rights to be considered.
