The Opportunity We are delivering one of the most ambitious and transformational infrastructure programs in the country, the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWOREZ). As we help lead Australia’s transition to a low-carbon energy future, we are seeking an experienced and visionary Engineering Manager to guide the integration of engineering design and asset strategy for this nationally significant project. We are open to candidates across all of the Greater Sydney, Newcastle & Hunter Regions . This is more than a project role. You’ll work at the intersection of engineering design, regulatory compliance, and strategic asset management, ensuring that the infrastructure we build today meets the needs of tomorrow. A Day in the Life as our Engineering Manager at Transgrid As the Engineering Manager for the CWOREZ project, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how renewable energy is delivered across regional NSW and beyond. You'll apply your technical leadership to ensure that high-voltage infrastructure is delivered with precision, aligned to Transgrid’s rigorous engineering, asset management, and compliance standards. You will act as a key advisor to the Project Director and work closely with Senior Project Managers, Commercial Managers, internal engineering teams, contractors, and asset managers to ensure seamless technical integration across all phases of the project. With oversight of both design governance and asset interface coordination, your decisions will have direct impact on the long-term reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness of the network. Your day may include: Leading end-to-end engineering integration across transmission line and substation design. Managing and reviewing pre/post-IFC designs to ensure compliance, quality, and alignment with regulatory frameworks. Facilitating workshops and technical review sessions to resolve interface issues between design, construction, and asset management teams. Supporting decision-making by balancing technical feasibility, risk, and commercial priorities. Overseeing design tracking, technical assessments, and completion readiness to support timely project delivery. You’ll also play a visible leadership role within the team, mentoring engineers, fostering innovation, and embedding continuous improvement practices to enhance technical outcomes across the program. About You You are a collaborative, technically strong, and commercially minded engineering leader with experience delivering complex high-voltage infrastructure projects. You understand how to balance technical detail with strategic thinking, and you are comfortable leading within a matrixed environment. To Be Successful, You Will Have: Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering Exceptional and tenured experience in high-voltage infrastructure design, construction, or asset management. Strong understanding of HV transmission line and substation design principles and practices. Proven experience managing engineering design activities in large, regulated infrastructure projects. Deep knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, particularly the National Electricity Rules. Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build alignment across diverse teams.
