Location: World Square, CBD and WFH Commencement Date: Immediate start or by negotiation Closing Date: Thursday, 29 May 2025 Capacity: Full-time, Permanent About the Role As Manager: Legal Services at Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS), you will lead a skilled team of legal counsel, lawyers, and paralegals in managing litigation and minimising legal risk. This key leadership role ensures SCS remains compliant with legislative requirements by delivering expert legal advice and driving effective legal and compliance strategies across the organisation. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: providing expert legal advice to senior leadership, monitor legislative changes, develop legal policies, and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks strategically managing litigation, legal claims, and risks, and coordinating external legal support working across teams and directorates to ensure integrated legal strategies and communicate effectively with executive leadership leading and supporting a legal team, fostering collaboration and professional growth managing, and where appropriate participating in, proceedings before tribunals and courts, including hearings, to ensure SCS is represented appropriately delivering strategic legal insights and communications to the Director and Executive Director to support the effective management of litigation, claims and broader legal risks maintaining availability outside standard working hours to respond promptly to urgent legal matters any other duties as directed from time to time. About You We are seeking a motivated and professional candidate with the following experience, skills and knowledge: a tertiary qualification in law, admission as a legal practitioner with an unrestricted practising certificate extensive experience providing complex legal advice and managing high-level litigation a proven track record in a senior legal leadership role within a medium to large organisation with an inhouse legal team, ideally with experience leading an in-house legal team a practicing Catholic with a demonstrated commitment to the teaching of the Catholic Church and active participation in a Catholic faith community. You will also be able to model and uphold the mission, ethos, and values of Sydney Catholic Schools a current driver’s license and access to a car. Desirable: leadership experience and knowledge of Catholic Systemic Schools/Systems.
