About the Opportunity Multiple opportunities and seniority levels available for Electrical Detail Designers to support design and drafting activities to ASC and the Royal Australian Navy in support of the Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) Program. The role will see the successful applicant applying engineering knowledge for the electrical design, modification and integration of submarine systems such as Power Conversion and Distribution (PC&D), Propulsion, Power Generation and other impacted Electrical Systems. Responsibilities Perform technically challenging electrical design and drafting tasks which demonstrate knowledge of engineering fundamentals. Undertake detail design activities from assembly to system level, production of electrical drawing outputs such as Cable Block Diagrams, Schematics, Connection details and Cable Installation data. Selection of electrical components suitable for installation and manufacture. Produce quality drawing outputs consistent with established industry standards (i.e. AS 1100 and DEF(AUST) 5085). Use corporate systems to maintain configuration control of design artefacts. Provide inputs to technical decisions that are safe, practical and suitable for implementation. Where appropriate support other team members through mentoring and peer checking of outputs. Provide estimates of time required to create/update design artefacts to fulfil project requirements. Inform key project stakeholders by providing regular work progress updates. Provide support to other disciplines and departments across the organisation to assist with delivery of engineering products and services. Conduct business in a professional manner with minimal supervision. About you Certificate III in Engineering/Trade qualification or higher. Experience in design and integration of electrical systems including preparation of manufacturing level drawings. Proven ability in the use of AutoCAD to produce 2D drawings and Autodesk Inventor 3D. Knowledge of configuration systems and the role of configuration management in the design process. Understanding of engineering documentation and drawings including adherence to standards. Adaptability to manage multiple design activities concurrently whilst still delivering work on time and within budget. Excellent written and oral communication skills. High standard of personal organisation and attention to detail. Ability to build and maintain interpersonal and professional relationships with stakeholders, as well as the drive to motivate yourself and others, and embrace personal development. Desirable competencies and experiences Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) tools and procedures Knowledge of Submarines or the Shipbuilding engineering environment. Eligibility This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
