About the Role: MPK is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our dynamic team at our Brisbane Support Office. In this role, you will provide pragmatic, timely, and commercially focused legal advice, supporting the delivery of infrastructure, essential services, and energy solutions across Australia and New Zealand. As part of a small high-performing, collaborative legal team, you will negotiate construction, procurement, and supply contracts while advising on a wide variety of inhouse matters including employment, regulatory, and corporate compliance. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded, solutions-driven lawyer to play a meaningful role in driving the energy transition. Key Responsibilities: Draft, review, and negotiate tenders, construction, and procurement contracts. Provide strategic legal advice across a wide in-house portfolio, with a focus on risk management and end-to-end project delivery. Advise on statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to MPK’s projects and operations. Develop and deliver training programs to internal stakeholders. Enhance and implement compliance frameworks, governance policies, and procedures. Support contract management, project execution, and dispute resolution. Assist with insurance claims, renewals, and related legal matters. Support the Senior Legal Counsel on corporate governance and company secretarial tasks. Safeguard MPK’s legal interests and corporate reputation. About You: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. Admission as a Solicitor in Queensland (or equivalent Australian jurisdiction). Hold a current practicing certificate. 5 years PQE, preferably with experience in engineering, construction, procurement, or energy sectors. Prior in-house legal experience (highly regarded). Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills. Excellent time management and organisational abilities. Ability to work autonomously while thriving in a collaborative team environment. Knowledge of industry practices within the Australian infrastructure, energy, and renewables sectors. Proven ability to manage relationships across all levels, including employees, management, clients, and external stakeholders. Self-motivated, solutions-driven, and commercially astute.
