Role Overview UMENCO is seeking a Textile Designer for a contemporary, luxury Australian brand who have a sophisticated yet playful approach to feminine style. This role involves the design and development of artwork from initial concept through to production, consistently maintaining the brands signature aesthetic. The Textile Designer will collaborate closely with the Creative Director and roader design team to help shape seasonal collections. The role will include conducting extensive research to inspire original textile design ideas that align with the Creative Director’s vision. The successful talent will be responsible for creating unique, purpose-built artworks that embody the brand’s identity while ensuring originality and adherence to intellectual property standards. This roles contribution will be critical in maintaining integrity and and innovation of each collection. Technical responsibilities of the role include preparing artworks for production, which involves tasks such as creating artwork repeats, colour separations and placement print designs. The Textile Designer will be responsible for grading and nesting placement artworks and engineering prints to fit pattern markers. Meeting seasonal deadlines and maintaining an organised design workspace, including fabric references and design boards are essential components to this role. Attention to detail and a structured approach to managing creative work are key to succeeding in this position. The successful talent will have a tertiary qualification in textile design and have previous experience in a similar role. Strong creative instincts and a distinct artistic perspective through colour, texture and pattern are essential. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign is required, along with excellent communication skills and an in-depth understanding of current design trends and textile innovations.
