About the Role FIFO 2:1 Roster Multiple roles, 6 month project with ongoing pipeline Critical and diverse role working with a supportive team Responsibilities Experience in verification of budget quantities, highly desirable. Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and consultants and monitor contract performance, variations and claims as necessary. Provide guidance to Project team/s to ensure adherence to the requirements of contracts. Preparation, issue, negotiation and settlement of claims and variations to the client, working in collaboration with Project and Commercial Manager/s. Ensure the terms and conditions of Purchase Orders are appropriate for the nature of the goods or services being obtained and that the requirements of the main contract are incorporated into the purchase order on a ‘back to back’ basis where appropriate. Take part and promote reviews to identify, highlight and implement mitigation strategies to minimise or address contract risks that impact project commercial performance. Assist to ensure appropriate consideration and assessment is undertaken with respect to contract risks in the preparation of tenders and the expansion or changes to existing projects. Support project and tender teams with strategic commercial advice to support project delivery. Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients to understand their requirements and expectations, addressing client concerns and facilitating effective communication between all stakeholders. Assist to manage and coordinate the finance, contract, payroll and procurement project teams to drive best practice service delivery while actively promoting continuous improvements and long-term value efficiency. Develop, analyse and prepare commercial reports, as required. Skills and experience Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Business or a related discipline preferred. 10 years proven experience in a similar role. A sound understanding of the Principles of Contracts Law, business ethics and the contractual / commercial principles adopted within the industry. Demonstrated knowledge in contract management within a construction or similar discipline. Experience in negotiating and managing construction contracts, subcontract agreements and supplier contracts to protect the company’s interests and ensure business sustainability. Demonstrated ability in commercial management within project based businesses, including budget preparation, cost control, cash flow management and financial reporting. Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills including both written and verbal. Demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues, make strategic decisions and solve problems effectively to support project and business success and profitability. Ability to work collaboratively with other Managers with SIMPEC with the ability to lead, coach and mentor teams. Developed time management skills to effectively manage competing priorities and meeting deadlines. Strong systems knowledge and experience in the use of MS Office suite and Accounting software (PRONTO desirable).
