These span across the Division. We are looking for people with experience in the following areas: administration, customer service and coordination, stakeholder and executive support. We are seeking a high performing Executive Assistant who will work in a high-paced office supporting the First Assistant Secretary to MECC (FASMECC). We are also seeking Ministerial Liaison Officers for our Ministerial Support, Senate Estimates and Ministerial and PDMS Services teams in the Ministerial, Parliamentary and Cabinet Branch (MPC). These roles provide you with privileged insight into decision making directly related to the Defence enterprise and an opportunity to work closely with Ministerial staff, Defence senior leaders and all areas across Defence. About our Team MECC Division, within Governance Group, operates in a dynamic, high tempo environment and is the central interface between the Defence organisation, Defence portfolio ministers, the Government, the Parliament, media organisations and the public. We work collaboratively with Defence Groups and Services to ensure the Department is providing high quality, coordinated and timely advice. MECC Division is responsible for overseeing ministerial, parliamentary and Cabinet processes, as well as strategic and internal communications and media functions. We work with sensitive information so confidentiality and adherence to privacy and security principles is also critical for our people. Working in MECC will provide you with a unique ‘balcony’ view of the Department, a strong understanding of the Government’s agenda and Defence enterprise-level priorities, how ministers and their offices operate. The Executive Assistant role will proactively anticipate the needs of FASMECC, and exercise flexibility and resilience. Candidates will be self-aware, with a positive attitude, demonstrating consideration and respect for a diversity of ideas and perspectives of others. You will also have a good knowledge of or ability to learn Defence’s corporate systems. The Ministerial Liaison Officer roles will work collegiately within the team to support the strategic priorities of the Defence enterprise and the Defence Portfolio Ministers through coordination and administrative support.
