A Council in the south-eastern suburbs is seeking a Property Coordinator Land Sales to drive its Strategic Land Program and Land Disposal initiatives.This is a key role in identifying opportunities for surplus asset disposal, managing encroachments, and supporting strategic land acquisitions that contribute to the Councils long-term objectives. Key Responsibilities:Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for: Land Sales & Strategic Asset Management: Leading the identification, assessment, and sale of surplus Council land, including roads, reserves, and other land parcels, to ensure optimal financial and community outcomes. Overseeing encroachment issues and disputes on Council-owned and Crown land, developing strategies to resolve longstanding property matters, and working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with Council policies and legislative requirements. Managing land acquisitions and disposals in accordance with the Local Government Act 2020, Crown Land Reserves Act, Road Management Act, and other relevant legislation. This includes preparing reports, contract documents, and legal agreements in collaboration with valuers, surveyors, and legal professionals. Liaising with internal teams, external consultants, community members, and government agencies to ensure a transparent and efficient land sales process. You will also be responsible for preparing and presenting reports to Council and executive leadership, providing expert advice on property-related matters. Contributing to the development of Councils long-term property strategy, identifying opportunities for commercial ventures, and ensuring best practice in property governance and asset management. Key CriteriaTo be successful in this role, you will bring:Relevant Qualifications & Experience: A tertiary qualification in property, planning, law, or a related field, or substantial experience in property management, land transactions, or local government operations.Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of property law, asset management, land surveying, planning processes, and statutory requirements related to land sales and acquisitions.Commercial & Financial Acumen: Experience in negotiating property transactions, assessing financial viability, and ensuring strategic land disposals align with Councils budgetary goals.Communication & Stakeholder Engagement Skills: The ability to liaise effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, including councillors, executives, legal professionals, and community members. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for preparing reports, contracts, and presentations.Problem-Solving & Decision-Making Abilities: The ability to assess complex property matters, interpret legislation, and provide clear recommendations to senior decision-makers.
