Legal Reoveries Officer - Asset Finance (3 month Contract) — Sydney, Sydney Region

About the Role Reporting to the Legal Recoveries Manager, you will be responsible for day to day legal recoveries tasks. This role ensures that all legal activity and recoveries matters adhere to the companies’ policies and procedures and relevant legislation and guidelines on a day to day basis. This role works closely with key internal senior stakeholders and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Manage overdue accounts by contacting debtors via phone, email, or mail to negotiate repayment arrangements or escalate legal action if necessary. Prepare and review legal documentation, including letters of demand, statements of claim, and enforcement proceedings. Liaise with legal teams, courts, and external stakeholders to monitor and progress recovery actions and ensure compliance with legal procedures. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all communications, legal proceedings, and account activity in relevant systems. Assess debtor financial situations and recommend appropriate recovery strategies, including litigation, settlements, or payment plans. Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and company policies, including privacy laws and debt collection practices. About you To be successful in this role, you will have legal recoveries experience, preferably in the asset finance space. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work well within a team environment are important to be successful in this role. A sound knowledge of the Consumer Credit Code, Privacy Act. A tertiary qualification in Law will be looked upon favorably. The ideal candidate will have experience dealing with managing and engaging external law firms as well as having a sophisticated understanding of regulatory and legislative requirements for collections, hardship and recoveries.
