Your day at NTT DATA NTT DATA is looking for a Principal Legal Counsel to join our team on a permanent role. This role can be based in Sydney or Brisbane and offers flexibility and a hybrid approach to working. You are an experienced technology/commercial lawyer who will join a team which helps our business achieve great things. You will be responsible for providing legal advice and contributing to commercial decision making whilst ensuring that all operations are conducted within acceptable risk parameters and in compliance with relevant laws. What you'll be doing Key Responsibilities: - Lead a company sector and contribute to the legal and commercial strategy for that sector. - Lead legal negotiations and provide advice on a range of major commercial transactions. - Sales and pre-sales support including review and preparation of tender responses. - Provide practical, commercial and strategic advice on legal issues including interpretation of contracts, application of regulations and potential disputes - Develop processes and procedures which contribute to the efficient operation of the legal team; - Ability to effectively influence and be a trusted advisor to the business. - Contribute to the culture of the legal team. What Would Make You a Great Fit? Whilst the below attributes are ideal, we're about culture here at NTT DATA Legal - so don't worry if you don't meet all of the below criteria - we'd still love to chat with you. - A team player who contributes to the success and culture of the team and enjoys what they do. - 6-8 years of experience on employment law issues, either in private practice or an in-house environment. - Strong experience in both Australia and New Zealand employment landscape. - Knowledge of legislation - Fair Work Act; National Employment Standards; Modern Awards. - Active awareness of recent developments and emerging trends - right to disconnect; psychosocial risk management; director accountability; flexible work arrangement decisions; employee non-compete restrictions; equal employment opportunity and diversity. - Providing practical and commercial advice to translate requirements into a workplace setting. - Advising P&C teams to navigate complex and sensitive employment matters. - Experience with workplace health and safety law and workplace compensation is a positive. - Eager to work with our P&C team to drive our people experience program. - Ability to independently manage workload and operate with a high degree of autonomy. - Effective communication skills to engage and influence key stakeholders. - A current Australian Practising Certificate / New Zealand Practising Certificate.
