Due to the intensity of this case, applicants must be physically fit, emotionally resilient, and confident in managing high-risk behaviours. Medical Conditions Intellectual Disability Autism Spectrum Disorder – Level 3 Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Behavioural Challenges You’ll Manage Absconding (running away) Threatening/intimidating behaviour Physical aggression Verbal aggression This role requires workers with prior experience managing escalations and de-escalating behavioural crises in a calm, structured, and trauma-informed manner. ✅ Key Responsibilities Supervise and support a complex young person in day-to-day routines Monitor and respond to high-risk behaviours using trained strategies Assist with personal care, meal preparation, and medication compliance Maintain a safe environment for the client and yourself Support with emotional regulation, independence-building, and community access Record daily progress, incidents, and updates professionally What We’re Looking For ✔️ Minimum 2 years of experience supporting clients with high-intensity or complex behaviours ✔️ Clear and confident spoken and written English ✔️ Physically fit and capable of responding quickly to behavioural episodes ✔️ Ability to follow structured behaviour support plans ✔️ Strong boundary-setting, patience, and resilience ✔️ Preferably experienced working with young people (YPs) in the disability or residential sector Mandatory Requirements Certificate III or IV in Disability, Youth Work, or Individual Support (or equivalent) Training in youth mental health and/or trauma-informed care would also be highly regarded.
