Legal Counsel — Sydney, Sydney Region

An ideal opportunity for a front-end Projects and/or Real Estate Lawyer; Initially a 12-month contract; and Located in Sydney CBD. Our client is a globally recognised leader in the development, financing, and delivery of solar energy projects. Committed to driving the shift toward cleaner energy, the company specialises in large-scale solar and storage solutions that support environmental sustainability and long-term energy resilience. As part of its ongoing international growth, the company is seeking a Legal Counsel (3-7 PQE) to join its high-performing legal team in Sydney on an initial 12-month contract. Reporting to the General Counsel, this role will primarily focus on projects across Australia and New Zealand. Key responsibilities will include drafting, negotiating, and managing project contracts for utility-scale solar photovoltaic generation facilities and battery energy storage systems (BESS). You will assist in developing processes and workflows, review and revise standard corporate agreements, ensure compliance with internal frameworks, and collaborate with various business units to provide relevant legal support. This role is perfect for a practical, project-oriented lawyer with a demonstrated ability to deliver commercial outcomes, ideally in the renewable energy or infrastructure sectors. Experience managing external counsel is highly valued, as are excellent stakeholder management skills, given the need for independent interaction with various business units. A strong academic background, coupled with experience in Projects and/or Real Estate from a leading mid-to-top-tier firm, or a similar in-house position, is highly desirable. A current Australian Practising Certificate is required. Full-time preferred, but 0.8 FTE candidates are also welcomed.
