The Role This Special Counsel position will see you take the leading role in front-end construction and infrastructure matters in Brisbane, working on: Major energy and infrastructure projects across Australia and the broader region; Drafting and negotiating a wide range of project agreements including EPC, D&C, O&M, FM, BOP, supply contracts, and joint venture arrangements; Advising on procurement strategies and early-stage project structuring; Supporting large-scale transactions in both the public and private sectors, including PPPs; and Contributing to team leadership, mentoring junior lawyers, and driving business development initiatives. The successful candidate will be supported in building their market presence, with a clear pathway for partnership. This is a pivotal role in a global firm. About You You will be a commercially astute and client-focused construction and infrastructure lawyer with: At least 10 years’ post-admission experience in project work Proven expertise across large-scale infrastructure and energy developments Experience with PPPs, joint ventures, and key construction delivery models Excellent drafting and negotiation skills and a pragmatic approach to legal risk The ability to manage complex client relationships and run matters An existing client base and the a strong business development mindset and willingness to leverage an international network An interest in growing a team from the ground up This role is ideal for a senior practitioner seeking greater influence, and leadership opportunities in a dynamic and supportive environment.
