About the role This position focuses on Auto Electrical Maintenance and Repairs for mobile plant equipment , ensuring reliability and availability. Reporting to the Workshop Foreman , the role requires working across all sections of the mine, including the surface workshop, while maintaining high safety standards and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities: Perform weekly scheduled maintenance on mobile equipment following EVN procedures. Diagnose and repair faults using technical manuals, bulletins, and service documentation. Keep accurate records in line with mining and Australian standards. Respond promptly to breakdowns of light/heavy mobile plant equipment. Train and guide Apprentices as needed. Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment . Adhere to site standards and take statutory responsibility. Communicate effectively with supervisors and cross-shift teams . Identify and report incidents, hazards, and equipment faults . Support continuous improvement initiatives . Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) responsibilities in this role revolve around maintaining a strong safety culture, prioritizing risk prevention, and fostering awareness among team members. This includes leading safety training initiatives, actively identifying, reporting, and managing potential hazards, and ensuring all operations align with Evolution Mining's values and safety principles . Additionally, collaboration with the environmental department is crucial to address risks related to water management, ground disturbance, and waste disposal. Success in this role requires technical expertise, flexibility, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to safety , ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of mobile plant equipment within mining operations. About you To be successful in this role, you’ll need solid experience in Auto Electrical Maintenance and a Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent Electrical Trade qualification. If you’ve worked as an Auto Electrician in underground mining, you already know the importance of precision, reliability, and efficiency in keeping mobile plant equipment running at its best. A strong mechanical mindset is key—knowing how to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair faults quickly and effectively. You’ll need to communicate clearly, work as part of a tight-knit team, and stay cool under pressure, whether you're tackling routine maintenance or responding to urgent breakdowns. Expertise in underground mobile equipment maintenance—keeping machines in peak condition. Sharp diagnostic skills to identify and fix electrical issues fast. Commitment to safety and compliance—because there’s no room for shortcuts underground. Flexibility to handle unexpected breakdowns and technical challenges. A proactive attitude toward equipment reliability and continuous improvement. You'll be reporting directly to the Workshop Foreman, working alongside a skilled crew, with indirect reports including the Workshop Leading Hand. Expect to liaise with key stakeholders like the Underground Manager, Maintenance Superintendent, and UG Shift Supervisors, making sure all operations run smoothly. To thrive in this role, you need technical precision, a hands-on approach, and a team-first mentality. Holding a “C” class manual driver’s license is a must, and additional skills like forklift operation, automotive air-con repair certification, and computer literacy will give you an edge.
