The AI Legal team plays a key role in ensuring that CBA can continue to leverage the benefits of AI and build trust in AI by providing strategic legal advice and supporting responsible design, development and deployment. Do work that matters: We are looking for a senior lawyer who enjoys a dynamic environment and brings curiosity and humility. Interdisciplinary experience across fields such as computer science, data privacy, intellectual property, and cybersecurity will be an advantage. You will provide strategic, practical legal advice and be a strong and effective communicator, capable of working closely with a range of senior stakeholders across a diverse practice, both autonomously and alongside other lawyers. The work is varied and may include: Active engagement with the business to provide legal advice on the design, development, deployment of frameworks for AI systems. Proactively identifying, understanding and addressing current and future risks. Support engagement with regulators and advocacy in relation to the development of AI regulation in Australia. Advise key clients on the development and implementation of the Group’s practices, procedures and policies relevant to AI; complex legal and regulatory issues associated with AI and strategic deals. ​ We’re interested in hearing from people who have: 8 years PQE in emerging technology, with regulatory experience highly desirable. A solid grasp of AI and demonstrated interest in continuing to learn as AI continues to develop. Excellent technical legal skills including the ability to quickly grasp and resolve issues in complex matters. A results-orientated approach, with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and work autonomously. Effective risk management skills, including authentically communicating the importance of risk in a way that mobilises others to act, making robust decisions based on data and root cause analysis, working collaboratively across lines of accountability and delivering sustainable results. The capacity to build excellent relationships with a range of stakeholders and the ability to clearly communicate complex issues with simple and actionable advice. Law Degree and admitted in NSW or other Australian state.
