Design Engineer Location: Sunshine Employment Type: Full-Time Salary: HS5 About the role The Design Engineer is a key position within Western Health, Health Support Services, providing technical input and support in relation to infrastructure & engineering services project proposals and delivery. A key member of the Engineering Services Leadership Team, this role will provide advice, input, and endorsement for infrastructure & engineering services project outputs at all stages of the project lifecycle. The role is a pivotal conduit between Engineering Services, Health Support Services Project Team, Capital Development, and VHBA, ensuring alignment with strategic vision and contributing to Western Health’s sustainable growth and Net Zero Emissions target delivery. The Design Engineer will interface strongly with all levels of business, collaborating closely with the Clinical leads to ensure infrastructure & engineering system projects are delivered fit for the clinical and operational purposes they serve. This full-time role will see you working Monday – Friday, across all Western Health Campuses with Sunshine Hospital as the primary office. Due to the nature of the Department and the role, out of hours work may be required. Key responsibilities: · Partner with Strategic Engineering colleagues to review problem statements in developing investment cases and advise on solution options to achieve the infrastructure & engineering system objectives. · The Design Engineer will be the Strategic Engineering representative on all significant infrastructure and engineering system projects and will liaise closely with the Capital Development and Health Support Services Project Teams, as well as the Facilities Team for significant corrective and optimisation works. · Provide advice, input, materials, and proposed programs of improvement and change management to the Director Operations Engineering Services, where gaps are identified that can be improved. · Stay informed of industry best practice, emerging technologies and legislative requirements related to infrastructure & engineering system design. · Develop and contribute to policies, guidelines, standards, and procedures relating to infrastructure & engineering system design as required. About you: · Tertiary qualification in engineering. · Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and understanding of databases. · Willing to travel to work at various Western Health sites and possesses a current Victorian driver's licence. · Proficiency in providing expert technical advice to drive sustainable asset management best practice across large capital and engineering projects · Ability to carry out data analysis and result interpretation from large, combined datasets to enable informed decision making.
