The Role An exciting opportunity to join our Design and Technology department and bring your passion and enthusiasm to the team. As the Design Technician, you will assist with the setup of classrooms for lessons, ensuring the required resources are prepared and ready to go. You will support the classroom teachers with the display for the student's design exhibitions, maintain the stock and equipment such as: Sewing machines Laser cutters 3D printers Vacuum former Woodworking tools This opportunity will be a permanent, part-time role during term time only, with the flexibility to work across 3 days as a 0.6 FTE. Key Duties Prepare and manage design materials for lesson preparations and provide classroom support Maintenance and sto rageof materials and equipment including woodworking tools Use Design tools and equipment Conduct risk assessments, record keeping, manage inventory, and oversee the ordering of equipment and tools Service, clean, maintain tools and equipment, and assist with the setup of materials and exhibition displays Advise staff on the technical aspects of practical equipment, contribute to developing practical activities, and participate in process improvements and initiatives Model and live the Caulfield Grammar School values and behaviours Skills and Experience Previous experience using equipment and tools such as Sewing machines, laser cutters, 3D printers, vacuum former, woodworking tools would be advantageous Exceptional organisational and multi-tasking skills with the ability to forecast ahead and have attention to detail Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to connect and interact with people from various diverse backgrounds and cultures. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team A friendly and approachable demeanor, with a positive attitude.
