About the Role Bedford’s Learning and Experiences hub in Whyalla currently have an opportunity for two casual disability support workers. We are pleased to be able to offer shifts Monday to Friday starting at 9.00am until 4.00pm. This role provides an opportunity to engage and support clients in a variety of activities focusing on empowering them to achieve their goals and develop new skills within a supportive, positive, and fun environment. The program changes every 12-weeks so there is always something fresh and exciting to experience with the clients including activities like gardening, cooking, music, fitness, kayaking and exploring regional SA just to name a few. Other responsibilities include: Provide 1:1 or 1:3 support Support clients to achieve their NDIS goals Complete progress reports and report incidents Work with clients to promote individual choice and control Provide transport to clients using a Bedford-maintained vehicle Maintain a duty of care for clients, other staff, and yourself About You As a qualified support worker with a minimum Certificate III in Disability you will have a strong knowledge of the NDIS Practice Standards, Code of Conduct, and Quality and Safeguarding Framework. You will be pro-active and have a person-centred approach, as well as a genuine desire to support people with disability to achieve their goals and build new skills so they can live the life they choose. As a bonus, you may have the opportunity to share a hobby, skill, or passion of yours with the clients you support, contributing to the success of our growing Learning and Experiences program. Other skills and qualifications include: Minimum Cert III in Disability (or equivalent) Current First Aid and CPR certification Current Manual handling certificate An empowering mindset with a focus on doing tasks and activities with the client and not for them For this role, the following documents must be provided prior to a formal offer of employment with Bedford. A National Police Clearance (no older than six months old) Driver’s Licence (as transporting clients is part of this role) NDIS worker screening clearance, or other NDIS approved clearance to work in the disability sector Evidence of right to work in Australia 100 points of identification What’s in it for you?
