This project is based within the Snowy Mountains in NSW and will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world. Snowy 2.0 is the next chapter in the Snowy Scheme's history. It is the largest committed renewable energy project in Australia and will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come. Purpose of the Role: The Construction Manager is responsible to the Project Manager for the onsite planning, direction and control of project construction activities to meet cost, quality, safety/health /environmental and completion targets specified for all the sites. Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Engineering/ Construction or Construction Management White Card Experience: 15 to 20 years Experience in major civil construction projects. Proven leader of large project teams, with a record of successful delivery. Experienced in the financial management of large projects, especially PPP projects. Practised and diplomatic communicator, able to appreciate the value of community and stakeholder relationships. Experience in delivering sustainability initiatives and appreciating environmental sensitivities during project construction. Required Competencies: Understands the importance of workforce safety as a pre-requisite to successful project delivery. Leadership and overall management skills appropriate to a major infrastructure project. Project management skills in all aspects of project delivery including procurement, design, construction, manufacturing, installation and commissioning. Proficiency in preparing and making high level presentations to senior client and management personnel. Strong commercial acumen and proven experience in contract management and negotiation techniques. Sound negotiation and problem-solving skills Strong Initiative and proactive nature Key collaborative skills Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Well-developed time management skills High attention to detail Exceptional knowledge and ability in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Ensure construction targets and programs are met and procedures in the project management plans are followed Ensure construction activities meet statutory and regulatory requirements Ensure the requirements for mandatory hold points are satisfied prior to inspection by the Independent Certifier Tracking and control of construction schedules and costs for achieving project completion within the budget and time, and value for money outcomes based on risk management, certainty of delivery and WoL Support the D&C Construction Director in the planning and organisation of schedule of works to optimise safe and timely delivery, for stakeholders, and the community Provide leadership in the creation of skills, well-being and develop a supportive work environment for delivery staff.
