Senior Specialist - Design Coordination - Ports & Terminals - Oceania - APAC — Port Botany, Eastern Suburbs

Description Based at the Port of Botany in Sydney, this role supports the client-side DP World team in managing and coordinating the design aspects of construction projects in Sydney and at other sites across Australia. The position involves close collaboration with engineering consultants, contractors, and government authorities, and includes the preparation of engineering proposals under the guidance of the team leader. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate and manage the design development process, ensuring compliance with project standards and timely issue resolution Maintain technical documentation and support implementation of BIM methodologies; develop and review design drawings using AutoCAD Plan and monitor design-related work packages, assist with tender preparation, and provide design progress reporting Support feasibility studies by comparing design schemes and recommending cost-effective, sustainable solutions Assist in evaluating design alternatives for constructability, cost efficiency, and long-term value Contribute to risk identification and quality control during the design phase Liaise with consultants, contractors, and authorities to support seamless design execution Maintain accurate records, particularly for design change management and project close-out reviews Ensure compliance with OHS&E standards and actively promote safe work practice Qualifications, Skills and Experience required: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline Minimum of 5 years’ experience in civil engineering consultancies, ideally with exposure to port, marine, or large-scale infrastructure projects Solid understanding of Australian design standards and regulatory frameworks Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; experience with BIM software is highly desirable Familiarity with structured project management methodologies (e.g. PMI, PMBOK 6th Ed.); CAPM or similar certification is a plus Experience supporting feasibility studies, developing design specifications, and procuring consultants or contractors is preferred Proficient in scheduling tools and software (MS Office, MS Project) with strong reporting capabilities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset About DP World Trade is the lifeblood of the global economy, creating opportunities and improving the quality of life for people around the world.
