About the role As a Library Assistant you will contribute to a positive customer service experience by communicating effectively with customers and using every customer interaction as an opportunity to build positive connections with the City of Parramatta. Council’s library services are delivered across a network of 7 libraries including Phive, the community, cultural and civic heart of Parramatta Square. Libraries are open across a wide spread of hours including 7- days a week at some sites. Key Responsibilities: Provide memorable and exceptional experiences for customers, ensuring each interaction aligns with the Customer Service Charter and Library’s Customer Care Standards. Facilitate community access to and enjoyment of the Library by delivering high-quality, customer-focused services and programs in a self-serve environment. Actively engage with customers through a roving or floor-walking approach, offering assistance and promoting the Library’s services, collections, and programs. Assist customers in using the Library’s ICT services and facilities, including mobile device apps, to enhance their technology, information, and literacy skills. About You We are looking for someone with: HSC certificate or equivalent relevant customer service experience Current paid working with Children Check. Strong verbal communication, literacy, numeracy, and customer service skills, with the ability to deliver memorable experiences and build relationships. Well-developed decision-making ability, including confidence in resolving high-priority and sensitive issues, and basic technology troubleshooting skills. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as part of a team, perform well under pressure, and adapt to changing circumstances. Well-developed computer skills, including skills with mobile technologies. What’s on offer Various casual opportunities available.
