About the role The Senior Telecommunications Operational Technology (OT) Engineer is responsible for the identification and detailed research of design preparation and planning. The role will also be responsible for strategic technical evaluations and implementation of agreed plans across a range of technical functions, including development of new criteria and applications of knowledge and procedures across the Telecommunications - Operational Technology Network. The Senior Telecommunications OT Engineer will also require project management responsibility for the evaluation, design programs of work, and validation of equipment and systems and managing the development of broad plans, budgets and strategies. This position is a fixed term opportunity for up to 12 months and can be based anywhere within the Essential Energy footprint with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment. About You Professional experience in a similar engineering role in utilities or asset management and engineering business A complete knowledge and application of telecommunication design philosophies and procedures Demonstrated experience to utilise analytical and technical knowledge to manage activities during planned and unplanned events providing appropriate solutions to technical/engineering issues in the engineering environment Management of business unit tasks for self and others in a proactive manner that promotes the role and image of Essential Energy Strategic organisational contingency plans and information systems Strong understanding of OT network security practices to ensure the establishment and maintenance of controls to mitigate OT network security risks. Required Qualifications Bachelor of Engineering (Telecommunications) or equivalent to satisfy Professional Membership to Engineers Australia or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications. Desirable Level 3 Restricted Zone Substation access Essential Energy ESI Training – Stream 5 or greater.
