Our current Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer (Head Office - Applecross) to continue with the growth of our business and work collaboratively as part of a team during tendering, ECI/FEED studies, and executing D&C projects. Our Benefits on Offer: Attractive base remuneration with fortnightly pay Attractive annual profit share scheme Permanent employment contract offering annual accruals of 4 weeks of holiday and 10 days of sick pay Salary sacrifice opportunities Your Roles, Duties and Responsibilities: The Electrical Engineer is critical in delivering Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) projects at Kerman Contracting, coordinating all electrical activities across assigned projects with the engineering team and consulting engineers. This includes planning, scheduling, executing, and monitoring electrical engineering work to ensure compliance with Australian standards, project specifications, and Kerman’s internal quality and safety systems. The position requires strong technical capability, practical site experience (advantageous), and excellent communication skills to manage multidisciplinary interfaces and achieve project objectives. The role would suit a qualified electrician with strong computer skills seeking to transition into an engineering coordination and interface management pathway, or a practically focused qualified electrical engineer. Manage and coordinate the electrical design across NPI projects, ensuring interface alignment with structural, civil, and mechanical disciplines, and verifying compliance with contract requirements and applicable standards. Take accountability for developing and frequently updating project lists and electrical packages with subcontractors and consultants. Prepare and assist in developing electrical designs, drawings, plans, specifications, and technical documentation for projects and engineered systems. Participate in Safety in Design activities, including HAZID and HAZOP studies, ensuring electrical safety is embedded in all stages of project development. Review design deliverables, identify potential issues, recommend solutions, and implement corrective actions where required. Work closely with Project Management and Scheduling teams to coordinate engineering activities and contribute to efficient project scheduling. Liaise with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the electrical deliverables and pertinent information are transmitted to the appropriate parties. As required, assist in estimating, scoping, and preparing technical specifications for electrical packages across various NPIS and other projects. Assist in developing project-specific Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for electrical installations and commissioning phases. Coordinate technical information exchange across internal teams, external contractors, and clients to maintain project momentum. Prepare and respond to technical queries (TQs) to resolve electrical design, installation, and commissioning issues. Attend Client and Contractor meetings, providing technical expertise and support to resolve electrical and interdisciplinary engineering matters. Assist in managing project variations by preparing supporting documentation for changes to the electrical scope and pricing. Participate in construction and subcontractor meetings, offering engineering support to site teams during installation, commissioning, and handover stages. Prepare reports, schedules, and documentation supporting project delivery, compliance, and closeout. Support continuous improvement by identifying and implementing process enhancements across the electrical engineering function. Promote a strong WHSE culture, take responsibility for personal safety, and participate in Company WHSE initiatives. Diligently prepare for meetings and present information to ensure the project team can progress efficiently. About you: Electrical Engineering degree or Electrical Trade qualification with strong technical and computer skills (such as AutoCAD, Navisworks, Microsoft Office, and scheduling tools). Practical knowledge and experience in design and construction, particularly in NPI projects (such as villages, modular buildings, warehouses, heavy and light vehicle workshops, bulk fuel, bulk lubricant, power distribution systems, comms, instrumentation, and services infrastructure). Ability to read, interpret, and review complex electrical drawings, specifications, and standards. Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills to liaise effectively across engineering, construction, and client teams. Knowledge of applicable Australian Standards and major mining company specifications. Experience working with Rio Tinto and EPCMs is desirable.
