The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush. We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia's history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers. The Aura Driver/Guide works evening shifts, and is responsible for the delivery of our nightly sound-and-light show Aura - Gold Changes Everything by following set routines and safety checks under the supervision of the Aura Duty Officer. Driver/Guides safely transport visitors throughout the outdoor museum to access all three theatres of the show, whilst also providing and maintaining excellent customer service at all times. This also includes the operation of the wheelchair lift on the vehicle, and securing up to 4 wheelchairs for the drive through the site. The vehicles we use for the Aura night show are custom-built prime movers for our site, electric, and have two trailers attached, allowing us to transport approximately 90-110 visitors per vehicle through the museum. Shifts for Aura Drivers can be up to 4 hours per night, averaging 2-3 shifts per week, subject to bookings and other staff availability.
