Description Early Childhood Language Teacher – Mandarin 13.5 hours per week in school terms over two days until 30 th June 2027 VECTEA award conditions 9hours contact and 4.5hours non contact Hillsmeade Primary School Early Learning Centre will be delivering the Early Childhood Language Program (an initiative from the Victorian Department of Education and Training) in Mandarin until 30 June 2027. The Early Childhood Language Program has been rolled out to over 200 early childhood services offering a state funded kindergarten for children in the year before school. As part of this program, children across Victoria will be given the opportunity to learn in a language other than English for part of their state-funded kindergarten program. In partnership with existing staff, the Early Childhood Language Teacher will be responsible for the delivery of the language program. The Early Childhood Language Program will be delivered in accordance with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the ECLP_Support and_Implementation_Guide . Children will be encouraged to learn through exploration, problem-solving and play in another language. Hillsmeade Primary School Early Learning Centre is currently seeking suitably qualified applicants for the position of Early Childhood Language Teacher. The successful applicant will work closely with existing staff to support aspects of the education program in Mandarin. The Early Childhood Language Teacher will receive dedicated time for planning to support program delivery. Candidates should have: Qualifications and experience in early childhood (ideally an early childhood teaching degree or a Diploma of Early Childhood, but candidates with a primary school teaching degree are encouraged to apply) Native or near native proficiency in a language other than English A solid understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework Excellent interpersonal skills and well-developed communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with the kindergarten teacher and other early childhood staff in the kindergarten program to co-plan and co-deliver the language program Well-developed organisational and time management skills Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning to further develop skills, expertise and teaching capacity The appointed candidate will be offered ongoing professional development specialising in early childhood language teaching methodology and will be required to sit a Language Proficiency Assessment organised by the Department of Education.
