Description Library Customer Service & Program Support Officer Reference number: 10635 Closing date: 11:00pm, 11 May 2025 Part-Time Permanent position (0.60 FTE). Salary of $38.45 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation (commensurate with experience). Library Band 3 21 hours, 4 days a week. The Opportunity Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a proactive and community-minded Library Customer Service & Program Support Officer to join our Libraries and Learning team. Based at Niddrie Library (with potential shifts across branches), this is a rewarding role supporting library users of all ages while helping deliver inclusive and engaging programs—especially for children and youth. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality, customer-focused service across the library network, including responding to enquiries, assisting with borrowing, and supporting technology use. Proactively engage with customers in a self-service environment through floor walking and assistance with equipment like PCs, mobile devices, and library tech. Support the delivery of children’s and youth programs, including story times and school-age activities, under the guidance of the Children and Youth Services Technician. Support the Children and Youth Services Technician with collection maintenance tasks. Assist with basic maintenance of the children's collection and participate in team discussions and meetings. Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive library environment, supporting community use of spaces and responding to a wide range of public needs. Perform opening and closing duties, work at other branches as needed, and ensure smooth daily operations in line with Council procedures. Skills & Experience To succeed in this role, you will have excellent customer service skills, sound communication abilities, and a genuine interest in engaging with people of all backgrounds. You’ll be confident using a range of digital devices and library systems and bring strong organisational skills to manage tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ideally, you’ll have experience working in public libraries or similar customer-focused settings, and familiarity with delivering community or educational programs is a plus. A satisfactory completion of secondary education is required, along with relevant compliance checks, including a Working with Children Check, Police Check, and COVID-19 vaccination status.
