The Ballet Teacher at Reddam House is responsible for delivering high-quality ballet instruction to both primary and secondary school students. The role contributes to the development of students' technical skills, artistic expression, and appreciation of dance, while fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. The Ballet Teacher will support the school’s mission to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, nurturing each student’s potential in both academic and extracurricular areas.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Deliver engaging and effective ballet lessons to students across primary and secondary school levels, adhering to a well-structured curriculum. • Prepare students for performances, assessments, and examinations, where applicable. • Develop lesson plans that cater to various skill levels, from beginners to more advanced students, ensuring inclusivity and progression. • Encourage and foster a love for dance, maintaining a positive, supportive, and disciplined classroom environment. • Collaborate with other performing arts staff to integrate ballet into broader school productions and events. • Provide constructive feedback to students on their technique, performance, and progress. • Manage and organise costumes, props, and other materials required for ballet performances. • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance. • Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines in all dance-related activities. • Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities as required.THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: • Strong technical knowledge of ballet, with the ability to teach both classical and contemporary styles. • Experience teaching ballet to children and adolescents, with an understanding of their physical and emotional development. • Excellent classroom management and communication skills, fostering a positive learning atmosphere. • Ability to prepare students for performances and examinations in a structured and motivating way. • Experience in choreographing performances for school shows or competitions is highly desirable. PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: • Passionate about dance education and committed to student development. • Patient, empathetic, and encouraging, with a genuine interest in student wellbeing. • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail, especially in lesson planning and performance preparation. • Collaborative and able to work well within a team-oriented environment. • Adaptable and flexible in teaching styles to accommodate different learning need. QUALIFICATIONS: • Formal qualifications in Ballet (e.g., Diploma in Dance, Certificate IV in Dance Teaching, or equivalent). • Experience teaching ballet to students across a range of age groups. • Current First Aid certification. • Registration with relevant professional dance teaching organisations is an advantage.
