Description Casual Library Technician Reference number: 10633 Closing date: 11:00pm, 14 May 2025 Casual Position. Salary of $42.05 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation (commensurate with experience). Library Band 4 The Opportunity Are you passionate about community connection, lifelong learning, and excellent customer service? Moonee Valley City Council is seeking a Casual Library Technician to join our Libraries and Learning team. In this role, you will deliver high-quality service across our library branches, assist with the daily operations of the library, and support the community in accessing a broad range of information and technology resources. As the most senior person on duty during some shifts, you’ll also provide leadership to team members and ensure efficient service delivery. Key Responsibilities Deliver friendly, responsive and consistent customer service to all library users. Supervise staff during customer service shifts and ensure branch operations run smoothly. Assist customers in the use of equipment and technology such as computers, photocopiers, wireless internet access, online resources, library apps, eBooks and mobile devices. Manage routine library tasks including circulation, shelving, reservations, and user registrations. Maintain a safe, welcoming, and organised library environment. Troubleshoot and escalate operational issues as necessary. Support the Team Leader and contribute to ongoing improvement of library services. Provide a quality information service and refer queries to specialist staff when necessary. Undertake other tasks as directed by more senior library and learning staff. Skills & Experience You will hold a qualification acceptable for professional (technician) membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), with some experience in public libraries highly regarded. You bring excellent customer service skills, strong computer literacy, and the ability to assist users with a range of technology and digital tools. You are confident working independently or in a supervisory capacity when required, and you thrive in a fast-paced team environment. Strong time management, organisational skills, and a flexible approach to rostering, including availability for evenings and weekends, are essential.
