Description About the role The primary purpose of the Senior Database Administrator Role is to provide the organisation with an efficient, functional and stable database environment across multiple platforms including on-prem Exadata, MS Windows, OCI and Azure clouds. This includes diagnosis, resolution, root cause analysis of issues and identify and document problem workarounds and provide support for scheduled release upgrades and deployments. You will ensure that the Database Administration practice follows the Information and data security policies. The secondary purpose is to provide support to the business and technology departments in the use of MUFG Retirement Solutions core systems and database tools and technologies. You will ensure service requests are appropriately actioned according to service levels and performance targets. You will provide technical support to core business application environments to ensure 24x7 availability. You must have previous experience supporting large complex application environments in financial services industry. Experience supporting multiple large databases on Oracle RDBMS running on Exadata platform is essential. You should have the potential to understand and apply new and emerging technology in Database Services including Cloud computing, HA, DR, backup and Recovery. Exciting opportunity to work within Technology team Permanent role to be based in Parramatta or Melbourne Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities Provide DBA Support to all MUFG Retirement Solutions Databases including: Maintaining and enhancing current procedures Backup & Recovery of databases Maintain procedures to reduce downtime and performance degradation; Perform Database performance assessment and optimisation. Maintaining and managing Oracle Exadata Database Machine Provide recommendations on systems configuration and operational infrastructure as required by management. Adopt and apply best practice approaches for the operating environment. Effective monitoring, system status alerts and escalation where appropriate. Evaluate software suitability and viability to determine its usefulness in addressing the needs of MUFG Retirement Solutions. Configuration and fine tuning of the databases, queries & reports. Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database systems. Modifying the database structure, as necessary, from information given by application developers and the business. (ie new tables, columns etc) User access creation, monitoring and maintenance of system security. Support both production and non-production environments. Develop and Maintain Documentation related to Standard Operations Procedures Provide effective support and minimise downtime to the business by liaising with developers, back-end support, database administrators and vendors Collaborate with other team members to improve the overall performance delivered to customers Coaches and mentors team members to strengthen specific knowledge/skill within the technology area. Experience & Personal Attributes Required Tertiary qualification in Computer Science Over 8 Years’ experience in supporting large complex 24x7 application environments in financial services industry Experience in Supporting multiple Database Environments Sound Knowledge of Oracle RDBMS and strong working experience in Oracle Exadata Database Machine. Strong experience in SQL problem solving and scripting is essential Experience with Oracle RAC, Oracle ASM, Dataguard and Oracle Enterprise manager Experience in PL/SQL programming, data analysis and design Experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery process Experience with Performance tuning, performance analysis and resolution. Experience with database security, Manage and resolve Information Security Corrective actions High level of problem-solving skills to handle complex software and interface support issues Ability to work on call after hours and weekend in a rostered 24x7 environment. Willingness to accept responsibility and be accountable for service provided Sound knowledge of MS Office Products and Power BI Good documentation skills and effective oral and written communications skills Ability to mentor junior database administrators Preferred Competency across a blend of operating systems such as Windows and Linux Background in financial services and securities industry such as Registry, Broking, Exchange, Superannuation.
