Your Role As a Senior Architectural Designer, you will collaborate with our design team to develop innovative design solutions as well as coordinate the project through the construction documentation phase. You will be successful because you already know how to translate design sketches and documents into realized 2D/3D models and images, and can research artistic and/or technical issues when they arise. Your knowledge of the industry will be crucial in winning business for the firm and you will leverage existing connections and proactively engage new contacts to grow the business. You will leverage your technical acumen and Revit skills to drive client projects from concept through build in a collaborative team. Your role is critical in the design and delivery of world-class Data Centers, and other Critical Facilities projects. What You Will Do Manage multiple aspects of client, team, and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.) Explore and identify opportunities to win new business from existing clients as well as new client acquisition. Collaborate closely with leadership and the PA Leader to drive the business development strategy, strengthening the Critical Facilities practice area and ensuring a robust pipeline of projects Manage communication between project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultants Resolve complex technical and design issues with team to produce innovative, technical, constructible solutions Manage client expectations, team communication and oversight of consultant coordination Actively lead teams for successful delivery of projects Responsible for oversight and delivery of documents with design intent and top-notch technical quality Maintain and oversee the project manual and specifications Conduct on-site observations and document site reviews Process submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFI Coordinate with the project team, client, vendors, contractors, and consultants Responsible for delivery of documents with design intent and top-notch technical quality Process submittals/substitution requests during construction and address RFIs Interface with client’s code and permitting consultants during the design and permitting phases of the project Actively participate and contribute to the financial performance of project Ensure projects conform to contract Review and contribute to proposals and contracts Establish and maintain ongoing, productive client relationships Contribute to office activities, initiatives and learning programs Your Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Architecture 10 years of related project experience, Data Centre projects preferred but other Critical Facilities (i.e. command and control centers, high-performance computing, or similarly complex projects that may include science laboratories/ national laboratories, high-tech manufacturing light-industrial/ manufacturing, healthcare, aviation & transportation, etc.) may be considered. Project experience in other architectural typologies is a plus. Ability and willingness to win new business through business development activities Strong proficiency in Revit, BIM360, AutoCAD Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) Microsoft Office experience desired. Sketchup, Rhino, Enscape, VRay, Parametric design software is also beneficial. Knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and building codes specific to core and shell architecture is required. Extensive experience in construction document preparation, including detailing and field observation. Essential knowledge of applicable engineering disciplines. Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices required Your Design Technology Qualifications Essential Deep understanding and expertise in Autodesk Revit for design authoring, documentation, data extracts and project delivery. Deep understanding and expertise in the strategic planning, setup of BIM projects, and troubleshooting, specifically in the context of Revit and allied workflows. Deep understanding and expertise with collaboration in the BIM context, including cloud-based markups, consultant coordination and clash detection. Understanding of the capabilities and application of Information Management tools such as Aconex, Asite, Newforma, etc. Desirable Good working knowledge and experience in Rhinoceros for design authoring. Good knowledge and experience with interoperability workflows between Rhino & Revit throughout all the stages of a project. Good knowledge and experience with real-time rendering processes, and material creation & management within the context of integrated BIM and parametric workflows. Good knowledge and experience with Computational Design applications such as Grasshopper and/or Dynamo. Good knowledge and experience with simulation principles and processes, including interpretation, and application of results. Familiarity with Performance Design applications such as Autodesk Insight, Sefaira, and Ladybug tools. Good knowledge and experience in the use of VR walkthroughs and panoramas for client presentations, consultant coordination and internal design reviews.
