The Company Based in Parramatta, New South Wales, our client has a global reach and is a trusted worldwide leader in premium building products. They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Research & Development team and play a pivotal role in developing new technologies and processes. The Role As a crucial member of the R&D team you will be responsible for; Spearheading the specification and commissioning of new process equipment, ensuring alignment with project goals and operational efficiency. Leading experimental work on pilot and production-scale systems, leveraging a hands-on, analytical approach to develop deep process insights. Delivering data-driven recommendations to R&D senior leadership through clear, impactful presentations of experimental findings. Engineering innovative structures and mechanisms to solve customer challenges, overseeing the full life cycle from concept through to build, test, integration, and operation. Partnering with manufacturing teams, vendors, and suppliers to uncover opportunity areas and accelerate project timelines through effective collaboration. Conducting technology scans and captured industry insights to enhance foundational knowledge across key technology domains. Applying advanced engineering principles to design and develop new machinery, optimizing for cost, performance, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability. Managing component selection processes, working closely with suppliers to ensure compliance with system specifications. Mentoring and supporting junior engineers and scientists, promoting a culture of technical growth and knowledge sharing. Your Background To be successful in this role you will have; Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline Over 7 years of hands-on experience in a relevant engineering setting Proven track record in designing, operating, commissioning, and installing process equipment, including pilot-scale systems Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, with expertise in mechanisms, thermal management, and structural design applied throughout the engineering process Skilled in engineering software tools such as Strand7, MSC Software, LabVIEW, and Autodesk CAD applications (preferably Inventor) What’s On Offer?
